Cambridge American Cemetery wins Visit Award of Excellence

Published April 10, 2025

Visit Award of Excellence winner

Cambridge American Cemetery managed and operated by the American Battle Monuments Commission, has earned a Visit Award of Excellence after achieving a remarkable guest satisfaction rating of 90% or higher, as determined by independent and external evaluations. These ratings are derived from guest surveys, reflecting the high quality of service and experience provided at the U.K. site.

The award is presented by CIE Tours International, a provider of guided vacations to destinations including Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, Iceland and Italy. Their Awards of Excellence are based on feedback from over 30,000 guests each year, recognizing attractions and hospitality providers that consistently meet the highest standards of service.

Quality of service recognition

“We are delighted to receive this recognition for Cambridge American Cemetery,” said Karen Wurzburger, chief of Visitor Services and Interpretation at ABMC. “This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, and we are grateful for the continued support of our visitors.”

The award was formally presented at a ceremony April 8, at Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen. The event provided an opportunity to honor the efforts of those involved in delivering exceptional service and maintaining the agency’s world-class reputation. Cambridge American Cemetery’s consistent excellence in guest experience underscores its important role in honoring the legacy of those it commemorates.

About Cambridge American Cemetery

Cambridge American Cemetery in England was donated by the University of Cambridge. It lies on a slope with the west and south sides framed by woodland. The cemetery contains the remains of more than 3,800 U.S. service members and more than 5,100 additional names are recorded on its walls of the missing. Bronze rosettes mark the names of those since recovered and identified.

It is the only cemetery in the U.K. dedicated to honoring fallen Americans who served during World War II. Most of the service members honored here died in the Battle of the Atlantic or in the strategic air bombardment of northwest Europe.
